About Us
Craftwood General Contracting was founded in 2022 by Steve Ryan, a lifelong builder with a genuine passion for carpentry and home construction. Steve got his start in 2009 at Niagara College, where he studied Construction Techniques and took part in a Habitat for Humanity build—an experience that confirmed he was meant to work with his hands, especially in finish carpentry.
Over the years, Steve explored different paths in the trades, including electrical training, but ultimately returned to what he loved most: residential construction. He gained hands-on experience with local contractors, working on home renovations, decks, fences, and high-end residential projects, while building strong relationships with other skilled trades.

Steve launched Craftwood as a one-man operation. Since then, the company has grown steadily, taking on larger projects and expanding its team. Craftwood’s success is built on quality workmanship, clear communication, and a practical, budget-conscious approach.
Born and raised in St. Catharines, Steve is proud to serve his local community. He stays personally involved in every project, making sure each job is done right. Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time outdoors with his dogs and tackling woodworking projects that let his creativity shine.
